Although modern Dubuque has a myriad of places to go and things to do, there are four nearby communities that harken back to simpler times yet
are just as interesting to visit. All are less than an hour away, so you can leave your luggage at one of Dubuque's newly-remodeled hotels and be
back in time for dinner. You will enjoy the drive through the area's lush rolling hills with breath-taking views of the Mississippi River.
Play a game of catch with your child at the world famous Field of Dreams movie site in Dyersville. While there, perhaps you will want to visit
the town's National Farm Toy Museum or have tea at the local doll museum. Bellevue offers a nature-loving community with plenty of history and
shopping on the waterfront. For those who want to sample Illinois' grape harvest, Galena has a winery and vineyard and also offers tours of its
historical buildings. Sample the beers made at a microbrewery nestled inside Wisconsin's Potosi Brewing Company complex, or visit its museum of
brewing artifacts. Visit one place or visit them all.
